Riverside is recognized by the California Air Resources Board as "California's Coolest City", for its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. Forbes ranks Riverside the "8th Coolest City" in the nation for its entertainment, diversity, recreation, youthful demographic and "foodie" culture.

First in Forty

The UCR School of Medicine is California's first new public medical school in more than 40 years. Up to 24 UCR undergraduate students have a spot reserved for them when they graduate.

Top Twenty in the World

Leiden ranks UCR 17th out of more than 700 major universities worldwide for impact in physical sciences and engineering. U.S. News & World Report ranks UCR 13th in the world for plant and animal science.

LGBT-friendly

UCR is a "Top 10 Trans-Friendly” university out of more than 425 schools indexed by Campus Pride. UCR consistently ranks among the nation’s most LGBT-friendly universities.

Military Friendly

UCR is a Yellow Ribbon Campus (great for those considered out-of-state due to service) and consistently ranks as a G.I. Jobs 2015 "Military Friendly School", thanks to our top-15-percent standing as a school that supports student veterans on campus and in their careers.
